Unemployment was up from November to December in all nine Pennyrile counties, but down from one year ago.
Christian County’s December jobless number was 4.4 percent, up from 3.6 percent in November and down from 5.9 percent a year ago. It equated to 1,102 people who were looking for work and unable to find it.
Todd County has the state’s sixth-lowest jobless rate at 2.7 percent, up from 2.3 percent the previous month and down from 3.7 percent in December of 2020.
The unemployment rate in Trigg County last month was 3.9 percent, up from 3 percent in November and down from 5.9 percent 12 months ago.
Muhlenberg County had the region’s highest jobless rate at an even 5 percent.
Kentucky’s unemployment rate in December was 3.4 percent and the national average was 3.7 percent.
