The Lions Club International has multiple clubs celebrating their 100th anniversaries this year, and the celebration will take place this weekend at the James Bruce Convention Center.
Lions Club International President Douglas Alexander and District Governor Gary Logan appeared on WHOP News Thursday morning and say that the Lions Club is the largest service club in the world, in 200 countries and with 1.4 million members. There will be a district celebration at the Convention Center starting Friday evening and into Saturday, with Alexander saying they’ll celebrate the highs and lows of those clubs and their dedication to community service.
Logan says there are four clubs in the state celebrating their 100th anniversaries, and they’ll recognize them at the event.
They will have information and applications on hand this weekend for those who are looking to join a long-standing civic club and get involved with community outreach.
