Christian Fiscal Court approves incentive for local expanding business

Christian Fiscal Court approved an incentive program for a local industry Tuesday morning and made a slight change to its incentive guidelines.

Legacy Metals on Prosperity Lane is expanding and creating 14 new jobs as part of an investment that could reach $2 million and their incentive will rebate them 70 percent of increased property tax revenues for 10 years.

Judge-Executive Steve Tribble says the incentive guideline revision that was also approved makes it clear that if any business accepts an incentive and they then sell to someone else, the incentive doesn’t transfer to the new owner.

Christian County Animal Shelter Director Irene Grace says 280 pets were brought in last month and they found homes for 282 cats and dogs.

Human Rights Commission Director Idalia Luna says they received 22 claims to investigate last year and they have a full year of activities planned in 2022, including a celebration of their 60th anniversary in July.
