Board of Health could hire new CCHD director within month

The Christian County Board of Health hopes to hire a new public health director within the next month after advertising the position a second time.

Board Chair Dr. Joseph Dempsey told the board Monday evening that the state is allowing them to hire a health director on a contracted basis instead of as a merit employee, which gives more flexibility on salary, and they hope to make a hire within three to four weeks.

Interim Director Devin Brumfield gave an update on the roof replacement project, saying the Christian County Health Department building is next in line after their contractor completes a job in Union County.

Public Information Officer Cloie Rager noted that the health department is looking into mechanisms that would allow them to send out automated calls to individuals who test negative for COVID-19, freeing up time for employees assisting patients who tested positive.
