All of western Kentucky is now under a Winter Weather Advisory from 4 p.m. today until 6 a.m. tomorrow, as a mix of wintry precipitation could cause hazardous traveling conditions.
The National Weather Service in Paducah says the area will likely see one to two inches of snow and a glaze of ice accumulation before the snow starts.
While roads could be slick for the evening commute in areas along the Ohio River, temperatures likely won’t be below freezing in the Hopkinsville, Elkton and Cadiz areas until sometime around 7 p.m.
Rain that falls through the day will leave roads wet and that moisture is likely to freeze with falling temperatures and a cold wind.
Wind chills will be in the single digits Thursday and Friday morning across the region.
