Warren East will move to the 15th District with Glasgow, Barren County and Allen County Scottsville. Monroe County moves to the 16th from the 15th district with Clinton County. Metcalfe County, Cumberland County and Russell County.
The board also discussed the possibility of moving up one year the measure to return to cross districting in the football playoffs. It’s set to begin in 2023, but the Board will vote on February 18th to move that measure up to begin in the 2022 season.
The board also discussed the topic of adding a shot clock for basketball games. Seventy five percent of schools responded to a survey which noted opposition to the idea. The vote was 115-97 against the measure in boys basketball while the measure was also opposed in girls hoops 117-88. KHSAA commissioner Julian Tackett said the board would continue studying the idea.
There could also be a semi-state tournament in golf. The measure being considered would call for three semi-states: Regions 1-4, 5-8 and 9-12. Thirty players would advance from each semi-state to the state (either 2 teams and 20 individuals or 3 teams and 15 individuals).
