Officials in Clarksville say the body of man whose vehicle went into the Red River during winter weather Sunday morning has been recovered.
Clarksville police identified the victim as 44-year-old Juan Salazar and say his body was located near the scene of the accident with the help of a Cumberland K9 Search and Recovery team.
As previously reported, a Clarksville police officer was traveling on Wilma Rudolph Boulevard near College Street about 2:30 a.m. Sunday and noticed power lines down near the Red River Bridge.
Further investigation led to the location of vehicle debris near the side of the bridge, leading toward the river. Salazar’s SUV was recovered from the river Monday.
Roads were already slick and icy when the incident occurred and excessive speed may have also been a factor, according to Clarksville police.
