City council no longer to consider standard for vaccines, testing

The City of Hopkinsville will not have to move forward with a vaccine and testing policy, following action by the Supreme Court recently.

OSHA had previously set down standards for COVID-19 vaccines and testing, which would have made it so employees had to either show proof of vaccination or be tested regularly—City Attorney Doug Willen says it is no longer up for consideration, due to the Supreme Court throwing it out earlier in January.

Hopkinsville Mayor Wendell Lynch says COVID-19 is still prevalent in the community, with numbers on the rise locally due to omicron, and urged everyone to do what they can to stay safe and healthy.

Two executive orders were passed at Tuesday’s meeting, reappointing councilmember Phillip Brooks to the Western Hills Municipal Golf Course Board and reappointing Rodney Davis, Connie McGahee, and Bertha Wimberly to the Code of Ordinance Enforcement Board.
