Sen. Westerfield says consumer privacy bill is now top priority

After relief funding for western Kentucky counties impacted by last month’s tornadoes passed the legislature and was signed by the governor last week, state Senator Whitney Westerfield of Christian County says his top priority is now a consumer privacy bill related to online data.

Senator Westerfield says Senate Bill 15 creates a way to protect a consumer who doesn’t want all of their online data exploited with no limits in place.

Westerfield is already hearing feedback from of the national companies who collect and sell online data.

Lawmakers will be back in Frankfort Tuesday following a four-day weekend.
