Runs to the grocery to get milk and bread in western Kentucky for a potential weekend snow storm may have been premature, as it’s appearing likely any snow impacts Saturday night and Sunday will be minimal.
In a conference call with area emergency managers Friday morning, National Weather Service in Paducah Meteorologist Dan Spaeth said the storm system continues to trend farther south and it’s possible that only counties along the Tennessee border—including Chrisitan, Todd and Trigg—will see any accumulations.
The current forecast calls for one to two inches of snow in the southern Pennyrile region, which would cause travel issues, but Spaeth says that projection may be overdoing it if the system continues to drift south of the region.
It will be a different story in middle Tennessee, where several inches of snow could pile up by the end of the weekend, so you’ll want to allow yourself plenty of extra time or avoid traveling all together if you had plans to head that way Saturday night or Sunday.
There will be a sharp cutoff in where there will be snow and where there will be very little or none, so even a small deviation in the storm track to the north could mean more snow for western Kentucky.
