Raccoon to thank for power outage in Pembroke Thursday morning

The Pembroke area was without power for a little while Thursday morning, thanks to a raccoon that got into the substation.

The power blinked out about 7 a.m. Thursday morning for nearly 1,000 Pennyrile Electric members in the Pembroke area—officials investigated and discovered a racoon had made its way inside the substation, causing the problem.

They say extra measures are taken to prevent animals from getting into the substation, including installation of protective devices, but some still manage to find a way.
