An arrest warrant for strangulation and torture of a cat or dog was served Friday against a Hopkinsville man.
It alleges that on December 23, 44-year old Necoreyell McGregor of Hopkinsville punched a woman in the face while she was lying in bed and then placed his hands around her neck and choked her.
When the woman was able to get away from McGregor, he allegedly choked her dog and threw it against the wall.
The victim had marks on her face, neck and forearm when police arrived, but McGregor had fled the scene.
McGregor is charged with fourth-degree assault, in addition to strangulation and torture of a cat or dog.
