Kentucky continues to break COVID-19 records for cases, positivity rate

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear says the omicron variant of COVID-19 is ‘burning’ through the state, as he reported a record high 11,096 new cases from Thursday to Friday.

The positivity rate ticked up once again, now at a record-breaking 24.45 percent, along with 39 newly reported deaths, bringing the death toll to 12,358—Governor Beshear says omicron is spreading like nothing before has, so it’s time to mask up in public and get vaccinated to protect yourself.

There are currently 1,856 individuals in the hospital with COVID-19, 423 in the ICU and 223 on a ventilator.  On the COVID-19 state incidence rate map, the majority of the state is listed as ‘red’, donating critical spread of the virus in communities.
