Kentucky House Republicans have released their two-year budget bill, a week before the governor is set to give his budget address.
While the bill has not been made public, House Appropriation and Revenue Chair Jason Petrie of Elkton says his party’s budget includes “Record funding for education, a continued commitment to the state’s budget reserve trust fund, and pay increases for the Kentucky State Police, state employees, social workers, and educators.”
Typically, lawmakers wait to release their budget plans until after the governor releases his budget proposal. Governor Beshear is set to give his budget address next Thursday, January 13.
