A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 7 p.m. for all of western Kentucky and three to five inches of snow is expected in the southern Pennyrile region, with isolated higher amounts possible.
State, county and city road crews are working hard to improve driving conditions and Christian County Emergency Management Director Randy Graham says stay at home if at all possible and give those workers the time and space they need.
Bitter cold is moving in with the snow and low temperatures Friday morning will be in the single digits, with Graham reminding that road salt loses its effectiveness when the temperature gets into the mid-teens.
Numerous injury and non-injury accidents have been reported across the region on interstates, parkways and primary and secondary roads.
Governor Andy Beshear is also urging Kentuckians to stay at home, if at all possible.
Cadiz police and Todd County Sheriff Tracy White also noted several accidents related to the weather as reasons to not drive.
The Friday morning commute will likely remain difficult and Graham says it will be a good idea to plan to stay off roads then, if possible.
