Proposed senate, congressional redistricting maps would mean significant changes in western Kentucky

A proposed new Kentucky Senate map would mean significant changes for local counties.

The Third District, represented by Senator Whitney Westerfield, would transition from Christian, Todd and Logan counties to Christian, Muhlenberg and Caldwell counties.

Todd County would now be in a 32nd District that also includes Logan, Simpson and southern Warren County.

The First District would include Trigg, Lyon, Crittenden, Calloway, Graves, Hickman and Fulton County.

The proposed congressional redistricting map keeps Christian, Todd and Trigg counties in Kentucky’s First District, represented by James Comer, but Muhlenberg and northeastern Logan County are moved into the Second District. The First District wraps under the Second and extends northward all the way to Frankfort in the proposal.

The proposed maps are expected to pass the Kentucky General Assembly this week.
