There were several more election filings at the Christian County Clerk’s office Wednesday.
Republican Bruce Smiley filed for the Ward 2 Hopkinsville City Council seat currently held by Kimberly McCarley. Bill Chaudoin, Jr. filed for reelection as county surveyor and is unopposed.
Meanwhile, there is now a contested race for Christian Fiscal Court magistrate in District 2 as Republican Josh Turner filed to run against incumbent Democrat Mark Wells.
Democrat Josh Newton and Republican Matthew Newton filed to run for constable in District 8, where incumbent Republican Bubba Haddock is seeking another term.
While the official filing deadline is Friday, the General Assembly is expected to postpone it until later in the month
