College Football

Alabama is gearing up for next Monday’s College Football Playoff National Championship game against SEC foe Georgia in Indianapolis. During his CFP virtual news conference coach Nick Saban said the more playoff games added, the more bowl games will be minimized and lose importance. Alabama has appeared in seven of the eight playoffs during the CFP era. The Crimson Tide hope to become the first team to win back-to-back CFP National Championships.

NFL

The Washington Football Team will announce its new nickname on February 2nd, some 19 months after dropping the Redskins nickname. The team also announced the nickname of Wolves or RedWolves-which had been considered as options-are no longer under consideration. The team also announced it will keep the burgundy and gold colors they have been using.

NBA

Ja Morant played another spectacular game scoring 36 points in the Memphis Grizzlies 118-104 win over Brooklyn Nets. Memphis improved to 24-and-14 and stay on the road to play the Cleveland Cavaliers tonight.

NHL

The Nashville Predators are back in action tonight in Las Vegas against the Golden Knights. First puck drops at 9 pm.
