The new year has already presented great contrasts in weather and it appears likely western Kentucky will see up to a couple inches of snow Thursday.
During the weekly conference call with the National Weather Service in Paducah Monday, Warning Coordination Meteorologist Christine Wielgos said Thursday’s high temperature will be at or below freezing, meaning anything that falls should be snow.
She says the current forecast is for one to two inches of snow and some travel impacts will be possible.
The weather should be rather quiet until Thursday and the early forecast for next week is looking to be cooler and drier than average.
Wilegos noted December was the warmest on record in many communities in the region.
