There will be another contender in the republican primary for Todd County Jailer, as Tonya Marie Schultz filed her paperwork Wednesday to run for that position in 2022.
Schultz, who worked at the Todd County Jail for eight years, says it’s her hope to make a difference and to serve the people of Todd County.
She says it’s hard to say what changes, if any, she might make if elected, because the environment and challenges a county jail faces can change from day to day. Schultz urged the citizens to get to know all the candidates before they vote in the May primary and choose the best person for the job.
Schultz filed as a republican, which means she will face incumbent Jailer Jeff Penick and Elkton Police Sgt. Rodney Moberly in the primary election in May.
The filing deadline for partisan elections is January 7, unless the Kentucky General Assembly changes it between now and then, and if you are wanting to change which party’s primary you will vote in, you have until end of business day Friday to do so.
