It’s looking like heavy rain will be the main concern Friday evening into Saturday, with a slight risk for severe weather possible in the area.
In a conference call Wednesday afternoon, Meteorologist Mike York with the National Weather Service in Paducah says some areas could see upward of three to four inches of rain, with isolated higher amounts possible should storms develop.
He says the main body of the severe storm threat appears to be staying to our south, but the region will likely be in a ‘slight risk’ for severe weather.
York called this a ‘low confidence event’, saying many things could change between now and then depending on how the storm system tracks. He says the best course of action is to stay weather aware as you head into the weekend.
After the cold front moves through, York says some places will see as much as a 60 degree drop in temperatures, which means standing water on roads and surfaces is likely to freeze, so people need to be on the lookout for ice.
