An Indiana woman was killed in a fiery, single-vehicle accident Thursday afternoon on the Pennyrile Parkway in Christian County.
Deputy Coroner Christy Adams identified the victim as 63-year old Lula Bailey of Newburgh, Indiana.
It happened just before 5 p.m. about five miles south of Crofton on the northbound side at the 18 mile-marker, with Christian County Sheriff’s Major Jason Newby saying Bailey had been headed north when her vehicle went off the left shoulder and struck a guardrail.
The automobile then overturned and caught fire, trapping Bailey and her husband, 66-year old James Bailey, inside.
Witnesses were able to free the passenger, but Lula Bailey remained trapped and was pronounced dead at the scene.
James was taken by EMS to Jennie Stuart Medical Center.
