College Football Roundup

There was just one bowl game Wednesday as Army edged Missouri 24-22 in the Armed Forces Bowl.

Today’s schedule has North Texas meeting Miami-Ohio in the Frisco Football Classic in Frisco, TX this afternoon. Tonight in Tampa, it’s Central Florida facing Florida in the Gasparilla Bowl.

A new policy is being implemented in college football as a response to the surge in omicron cases across the country. The College Football Playoff management committee says that a team can advance, or win, the national championship by an opponent forfeiting. Changes made during a video conference also state that the January 10th championship game can be potentially pushed back as late as the 14th. If one team can play but the other can’t due to COVID, they would have to forfeit if the game can’t be rescheduled. If both teams are unable to, a “no contest” will be declared and the championship will instead be vacated. The four teams battling for the title this season are Alabama, Michigan, Georgia and Cincinnati.
