Hopkins County continues to work on recovery efforts in wake of a destructive tornado that hit Dawson Springs Friday night, with emergency management saying search and rescue efforts are ongoing.
Hopkins County EMA Nick Bailey says they are thoroughly going through a list of those who are missing and trying to make contact with each of them, but that takes a lot of time.
He says they anticipate that FEMA will be in Hopkins County Wednesday to begin helping residents with individual assistance, including with physical restoration.
Bailey says they are asking residents to separate debris, if possible, into four group, including vegetative debris, building materials, appliances including fridges, stoves and ovens, and hazardous waste. Separating the piles at the curb will help streamline cleanup efforts.
