The Christian County School System has announced the temporary closures of Pembroke Elementary and South Christian Elementary Schools due to the aftermath of Saturday morning’s severe weather.
A news release says Pembroke Elementary will remain closed for the next five days for repairs. South Christian Elementary School was not damaged by the storms, but is currently without power and will be closed until Wednesday.
Pennyrile Electric reportedly indicated to CCPS leadership that power should be restored to the school sometime next week.
Superintendent Chris Bentzel says, “Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire Pembroke community in the wake of this horrible storm. Family is number one. We will ensure that our Pembroke Elementary family gets everything they need to return to school as quickly and as safely as possible.”
Christian County Public Schools will provide food and service support to the Pembroke community beginning Monday, according to information from the district.
There is no Non-Traditional Instruction for Pembroke and South Christian Elementary students and the missed school days will not be added to the school calendar.
