Festival of Trees underway in War Memorial Building, continues Saturday

The Pennyroyal Center Festival of Trees got underway Friday in the War Memorial Building in downtown Hopkinsville, and the festivities continue into Saturday.

Even though Friday’s viewings were by appointment only, Ashley Boze says they had a great turnout and the gates open wholly to the public Saturday morning.

The event is free to attend this year, with Boze saying they wanted to do something to bring a little more Christmas cheer to the community this year with no cost.

Raffles tickets for a chance to win a fully decorated tree are $1 a ticket, and Boze says all proceeds raised from those sales will benefit programs through the Pennyroyal Center that were impacted hard by the pandemic.

Santa and Mrs. Claus will be at the building from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. Saturday to meet with families, with the festival wrapping things up around 4 p.m., right before the downtown Christmas parade is set to take place starting at 5:15 p.m.
