College Football

The Virginia Cavaliers appear to be staying in the ACC for their next head football coach. ESPN is reporting that Clemson offensive coordinator Tony Elliott has emerged as the top choice. It was also reported that Elliott met with Cavaliers athletic director Carla Williams on Wednesday in Charlottesville.
Virginia is looking for a replacement for Bronco Mendenhall, who said he was going to step down as head coach after Virginia’s bowl game.

NFL
The Minnesota Vikings will try to stay in the playoff hunt when they face the Pittsburgh Steelers at US Bank Stadium tonight. The Vikings have only defeated the Steelers once in their last five tries.

NBA
The Memphis Grizzlies fell to the Dallas Mavericks 104-96 last night at Fed Ex Forum. The Grizzlies welcome the Los Angeles Lakers this evening. Meanwhile, the Grizzlies announced that Ja Morant has entered the NBA’s health and safety protocols. ESPN is reporting that Morant is fully vaccinated and has gotten his booster shot. Morant wouldn’t have played anyway last night, since he’s missed Memphis’ last five games with a left knee sprain. The point guard leads the team in scoring and assists with 24.1 points and 6.8 assists per game.

NHL

The Nashville Predators look for their second win in as many games this evening as they play at the New York Islanders. First puck drops at 6:30 pm.

Golf

Tiger Woods is going to play the PNC Championship golf event with his son less than a year after a serious car accident. The father-son event will be held in Orlando from December 16th to 19th.
