Guilty plea entered in Oak Grove shooting case

A plea deal was reached Wednesday afternoon in Christian Circuit Court for a man who shot a woman in November of last year in the parking lot of the Hi Road gas station on Hugh Hunter Road in Oak Grove.

As previously reported, Kentucky State Police said 22-year old Angela Perez of Clarksville and her significant other were at the Hi Road convenience store when 32-year old Evan Adams of Oak Grove pulled into the parking lot.

Adams reportedly confronted Perez over a previous incident and police said Perez nearly struck Adams with her vehicle after crashing into a barrier near the gas pumps while trying to leave the parking lot.

That’s when Adams shot into the rear of her car, hitting Perez with a bullet that would have to be removed surgically at Tennova Health Hospital.

Circuit Judge Andrew Self noted during Wednesday’s hearing that the plea deal amends the first-degree assault charge to second-degree assault, comes with a 10-year sentence and the commonwealth is neutral on probation.

Formal sentencing was set for January 5 at 1 p.m. and Adams will remain out bond pending formal sentencing, but will only be allowed to leave home for work, probation and parole appointments, court or religious purposes.
