The Rotary Club of Hopkinsville got a visit from the Pennyrile Area Development District during Tuesday’s meeting, and heard about what initiatives the organization is helping bring to the region.
Executive Director Jason Vincent says PADD is always seeking out grant funding, federal program, non-profit initiatives and more that they can bring to the citizens of the nine-county region and improve their quality of life. One example is they are still assisting in the utilities assistance program for those badly impacted by the pandemic, where they can help cover up to six months of utility payments.
He says PADD recently received word they are the recipients of a Innovative Readiness Training program with the United States Department of Defense that will allow real world experience to military personnel while providing free healthcare to citizens.
Vincent says that is set to take place during the coming summer through Christian County Middle School, and they’ll put more information out as it becomes available.
They also continue to work on the Southwest Kentucky Regional Broadband project, COVID-19 loan programs, little abatement and more, while assisting several local projects, including the Christian County Animal Shelter Spay and Neuter program, the Oak Grove sidewalks project and Habitat for Humanity.
