Poplar Street home damaged in apparent electrical fire

Four people have been displaced Monday morning after their Poplar Street residence was damaged by fire.

According to Hopkinsville Fire Department Lt. Payton Rogers, two stations responded to reports of a structure fire in 2000 block of Poplar, and found light smoke coming from under the front door. Investigation discovered the smoke coming from an electrical outlet, and a small fire was found inside the wall by that outlet, which was quickly extinguished.

There was minor damage to the structure, but four residents have been temporarily displaced—no one was injured in the incident.
