A high speed pursuit that began on the Pennyrile Parkway in Christian County Friday morning ended with the vehicle crashing in Hopkinsville and the driver being arrested.
Christian County Sheriff’s Deputy John Quarles attempted to stop a southbound vehicle driven by 25-year-old Malik Ratcliff of Madisonville, who was allegedly traveling 112 mph.
Police say Ratcliff didn’t stop and reached speeds of 125 mph as he reached Hopkinsville before exiting the parkway.
He eventually crashed out into a tree at Central Avenue and Broad Street in Hopkinsville before fleeing on foot.
Deputies and officers with the Hopkinsville Police Department were able to take Ratcliff into custody in the 1700 block of Walnut Street.
He was taken to Jennie Stuart Medical Center for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries and is facing charges of speeding, fleeing or evading police by vehicle and by foot and numerous other traffic violations.
A computer check showed he was sought on warrants out of Hopkins County for failure to appear in court to face rape and drug charges.
