Suspect in East 18th shooting arraigned in District Court

The man charged in a shooting incident that injured two people on East 18th Street was arraigned in Christian District Court Wednesday morning.

Demario White appeared before District Judge Lindsey Adams virtually, who explained the charges against him, which include first-degree assault, second-degree assault, possession of a handgun by a felon, tampering with evidence and wanton endangerment. The judge entered a not-guilty plea on his behalf and set a preliminary hearing for December 8, with bond set at $50,000.

White allegedly shot a man in the leg at 1200 East 18th and fired a shot that grazed a female, causing her only minor injuries. The male had to be flown to Skyline Medical Center in Nashville for treatment.
