College Football

According to multiple reports, LSU will make Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly the next leading man in Baton Rouge. Kelly will depart the Fighting Irish with more wins than any head coach in program history. LSU was in search of a new coach following parting ways with Ed Orgeron.

Lincoln Riley was officially introduced as Southern California’s new coach on Monday. He comes to the Trojans after leading Oklahoma to four straight Big 12 titles and three College Football Playoff appearances. Riley replaces Clay Helton, who was fired in September. Several coaches from the Oklahoma program are making the move west with Riley.

MLB

The New York Mets are reportedly signing former Cy Young winner Max Scherzer to a record breaking contract. Reports say the contract is for three-years and 130-million-dollars, which would set a new record at an average-annual-value of over 43-million-dollars.

The reigning AL Cy Young award winner is on the move. ESPN reports the Seattle Mariners are signing left-handed pitcher Robbie Ray to a five-year contract worth 115 million dollars. Ray went 13-and-7 with a 2.84 earned run average last season with the Toronto Blue Jays before winning the Cy Young. He led the MLB with 248 strikeouts.

Corey Seager is the latest 300-million dollar man in Major League Baseball. ESPN reports the star shortstop is agreeing to a 10-year deal with the Texas Rangers. The contract will pay Seager 325-million dollars over the life of the contract. The 27-year-old has hit two-95 with 100 home runs in just over 600 games between 2016 and 2021 for the Los Angeles Dodgers.

NFL
It was far from an offensive masterpiece, but the Washington Football Team came out on top defeating the Seattle Seahawks 17-15 last night.
Dallas Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy is feeling okay after testing positive for coronavirus. McCarthy told reporters Monday he has a bit of a scratchy throat, but that’s it. He originally believed the throat issues were from last Thursday’s game against Las Vegas. McCarthy didn’t learn until mid-morning yesterday about the positive test and is vaccinated. Dan Quinn will serve as interim head coach this Thursday when Dallas faces New Orleans.
