One flown to Nashville hospital following Hopkins Co. collision

The Hopkins County Sheriff’s Department is investigating after a man was injured in a vehicle versus moped collision on Anton Road in Madisonville Monday.

According to a news release, deputies responded to the 3900 block of Anton Road for reports of a two-vehicle collision and upon arrival, discovered 19-year-old Ezra Carter laying unresponsive in the roadway. Deputies immediately began CPR and first aid while EMS was on the way.

Carter was taken by helicopter to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville for treatment.

Investigation determined that Carter had been operating a moped west on Anton Road when he was reportedly rear ended by a truck driven by 25-year-old Andrew Grogan, and Carter was thrown from the moped.

Grogan was not injured in the collision. Deputies, along with Kentucky State Police, are continuing to investigate the incident.
