One of the Dawson Springs teens injured in an accident Tuesday night in Caldwell County has been released from the hospital, another continues to undergo treatment and the local school will release students early Wednesday to attend the funeral of a former student killed in the accident.

Dawson Springs School System Superintendent Leonard Whalen says 2021 graduate, 18-year old Landon Pace of Dawson Springs has been treated and released from the hospital, while 16-year old Tyler Hale is improving at Skyline Medical Center.

Hale, a junior at the school, underwent major surgery to repair his legs and to address other injuries.

Eighteen-year old Logan McKnight of Dawson Springs, who graduated in May and who was attending Western Kentucky University, was killed in the accident. His funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Dawson Springs gymnasium and the school will release at 1 p.m. to accommodate.

Whalen says there will be grief counselors and local clergy at school Monday and Tuesday to help anyone who needs it.

As previously reported, the accident happened about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of KY 91 and KY 672 in Caldwell County and Whalen says the boys were on their way to a Dawson Springs basketball game in Trigg County.
