It was picture perfect fall weather for Shop Small Saturday in Hopkinsville and shoppers took advantage of it and the deals in support of local business.
Multiple businesses and entrepreneurs were open for business Saturday, as community members walked the streets and gave them their support—shopping local, especially this time of year, is of vital importance to those business owners who call the community home. Holly Boggess with the Downtown Renaissance District says they had a healthy turnout this year, giving away 50 of the 100 available totes within the first hour.
People across the county took part, from businesses on East Sixth Street to vendors on Dawson Springs Road, and Boggess says December itself is Shop Small Month.
J. Schreker Jewelry was home to an open house event where shoppers could get snacks and beverages, and the Christmas Market on the Square was host to multiple items, from decorations to jewelry to produce. Boggess reminds people that’s important to shop local all year ‘round to help keep those places who make such an impact in the community up and running.
