MLB awarded the Comeback Player of the Year awards Monday. San Francisco Giants catcher Buster Posey and Baltimore Orioles first baseman Trey Mancini were named as the winners. Mancini’s season was well documented after he missed the 2020 season to treat stage 3 colon cancer. The winner for the AL went on to hit 21 home runs for Baltimore in 2021.

The Baseball Writers’ Association of America is revealing the new names on its Hall of Fame ballot this year. The names that may cause the most debate are Alex Rodriguez and David Ortiz. Other players making the ballot include Mark Teixeira, Tim Lincecum and Jimmy Rollins. Voting will be revealed in January.

The San Francisco Giants are locking down some arms for next season’s pitching rotation. The Giants announced Monday they have agreed to a three-year deal to bring back right-hander Anthony DeSclafani. ESPN also reports San Francisco is finalizing a two-year deal with lefty Alex Wood worth more than 10-million dollars a season. The team is reportedly also pursuing righty Alex Cobb.
