Cadiz officer receive lifesaving award

Cadiz Police Officer Shawn Young has received the lifesaving award.

Chief Duncan Wiggins says that on October 29 of this year while his regular duties in Trigg County schools, Officer Shawn Young was in the cafeteria when a student became choked and had an obstructed airway.

Officer Young was able to provide lifesaving measures by giving abdominal thrusts, clearing the obstruction. The child’s breathing was restored and an assessment by the school nurse was completed.

Chief Wiggins says Officer Young’s quick response, recognition of the medical emergency, immediate actions and follow-up assessment resulted in saving the life of the student.
