4.0 Earthquake recorded on New Madrid Fault in SE Missouri

What’s being called a “notable earthquake” by the U.S. Geological Survey was felt in Southeast Missouri and far Western Kentucky Wednesday night as the New Madrid Fault continues to remind the area of its presence.

The USGS website shows there was a 4.0 magnitude quake a little before 9 p.m. just outside of Poplar Bluff, near Williamsville.

There was no major damage or injuries reported, but there were reports of it being felt as far away as Murray.
