Everyone over the age of 18 in Kentucky can now get their COVID-19 booster shots, after Governor Andy Beshear signed an executive order Wednesday.
In the COVID update, the positivity rate jumped up to 6.24 percent, up from 5.73 the day before—there were 2,195 new cases, along with 36 newly reported deaths, putting the death toll at 10,354. Governor Andy Beshear says getting the booster will keep another spike from happening, along with making sure you’re protected from becoming seriously sick due to COVID-19.
Governor Beshear noted that cases are spiking again across Europe, which increases his concern for the trajectory in Kentucky’s case numbers without increased vaccinations and boosters.
There are currently 757 people in the hospital with COVID-19, 200 in the ICU and 100 on a ventilator.
