Todd County traffic stop leads to gun, drug arrests

A traffic stop Saturday night by the Todd County Sheriff’s Office led to the arrest of two Hopkinsville men on drug and gun charges.

Deputy Jonathan Knight stopped a vehicle driven by 29-year old Jordan Lunsford of Hopkinsville on US 68 for speeding and a news release says he observed items thrown out of the window and off a bridge between Greenville Road and Pond River Road.

Elkton police and a Guthrie K9 unit assisted and police allegedly located a bag of marijuana and a gun with an extended magazine.

Police say a search of the vehicle revealed more marijuana, another Glock handgun magazine, a bottle of liquor and $460 cash.

Lunsford and his passenger—29-year old Kione Berry of Hopkinsville—were both arrested for trafficking in marijuana, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, tampering with evidence and use of restricted ammunition during commission of a felony.

Lunsford was additionally charged with driving on a suspended license, speeding, possession of an open alcohol container and he was served with warrants out of Todd and Robertson County.
