Kentucky remembers the over 10,000 lost to COVID-19

Governor Andy Beshear has unveiled the rendering of a permanent COVID-19 memorial to honor the more than 10,000 Kentuckians who have lost their lives to the virus.

Designed by Amanda Matthews of Lexington, the memorial is titled “United We Stand, Divided We Fall.”

It will be installed on the Capitol grounds in about six months.

Jaqueline Woodward is the widow of a nurse lost to COVID-19 and says the grief persists.

The governor unveiled the design during a memorial service in the Capitol rotunda.
