Woman facing felony charges after shoplifting complaint

What began as a shoplifting investigation at Bargain Hunt Thursday night led to a woman facing felony charges.

Hopkinsville police arrived and found the suspect, 39-year old Kimberly McCain of Hopkinsville, in the parking lot and store employees said she walked out of the building with about $260 worth of unpaid for merchandise.

An arrest citation says McCain thrashed around in the back of the cruiser and caused damage to the vehicle and she was able to bring her handcuffed hands from the back to the front and freed a hand.

A search of her person allegedly revealed debit cards in another woman’s name and the victim said McCain had used her personal information to obtain the cards illegally.

McCain is charged with theft of identity, theft by unlawful taking, criminal mischief and escape.
