The Hopkinsville Rotary Club is teaming up with the Christian County Public School System to provide workshops that would teach students they need to know as they leave school.
According to a news release, the club has pledged $4,500 to help pay for interview appropriate attire, but club members will also serve as professional experts in the workshops. The workshop topics include will include how to apply for FAFSA, scholarships, the Rotary Scholars Program, money management, credit, budgeting, how social media can help or hurt in finding employment, how to change a tire, how to jump a dead car battery, how to file a tax return, how to tie a tie, interviewing skills, why social skills matter and will conclude with a career panel representing a multitude of occupations.
The CCPS Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act program is an in-school youth education and workforce development program that includes seniors from the high schools and is funded through the West Kentucky Workforce Board.
Rotary Club President Cody Noffsinger says, “The Rotary Club of Hopkinsville is thrilled to partner with the CCPS program by taking part in the “Adulting 101: Skills That Pay the Bills” and to be able to award $4,500 to help these students transition into the next chapter of their lives.
