A Sharon Grove man was charged by Hopkinsville police for felony assault Saturday afternoon after he allegedly hit a woman on the face with a baseball bat outside the West Seventh Street Dollar General.
An arrest citation for 29-year old Scott Cruitt of Sharon Grove says video evidence shows him walking in front of the store while under the influence of a substance and swinging a baseball bat.
He then approached a woman who was trying to enter the store and allegedly struck her in the face with the bat. The victim’s husband took the bat from him and police say he then went inside the store and began shouting and challenging store staff.
Cruitt was taken to Jennie Stuart Medical Center and police say he remained combative there.
He was charged with second-degree assault and public intoxication.
