Local educator Pam Dossett says she will again challenge Eighth District state Representative Walker Thomas in the 2022 election.
The Democrat has been an educator for the last 20 years, teaching at Highland Elementary, Holiday Elementary and Sinking Fork Elementary.
She currently teaches elementary reading and writing at the Virtual Learning Academy, where she has served for two years.
Dossett says in a news release that she’s passionate about education adding, “Our community is moving in the right direction with the addition of a state-of-the-art, academy-style high school. When we let our students know they are a priority and set high expectations for them, they will strive to succeed and meet those expectations. Any time a new school is built, it is a benefit to the community and will promote positive growth. As a state representative, I want to continue this pattern of excellence and growth for our students and citizens.”
She says her campaign will focus on issues like education, healthcare, and local job creation.
Dossett and her husband have four daughters between the ages of 18 and 22.
One of those daughters has Type 1 diabetes and Dossett says she understands “the critical need for expanded healthcare and putting a price cap on life-saving drugs, such as insulin.”
She says, “As a representative, I will work tirelessly to bring these things to the citizens of Kentucky, and the 8th district.”
