Two people wanted on homicide charges in Wisconsin were arrested in Hopkins County Tuesday following pursuit of a stolen vehicle.
According to a news release from Kentucky State Police, troopers got reports of reports of a car stolen from the Hucks gas station on South Main Street in Madisonville. Troopers were able to locate the vehicle and attempt a traffic stop, but the driver reportedly failed to stop. The brief pursuit ended when the vehicle crashed into a wood line at the end of a dead-end street and two suspects fled on foot.
The driver of the vehicle, 30-year old Derek Hebel of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, was found hiding in some heavy brush and taken into custody. He is charged with fleeing or evading police, felony theft of an automobile, possession of drug paraphernalia, DUI, criminal mischief, speeding and reckless driving.
The passenger, 28-year old Heather Rouse of Florida, was located a short time later outside of a residence, arrested and charged with felony theft, fleeing or evading police, possession of drug paraphernalia and public intoxication.
They were both charged with being a fugitive for another state in reference to the Wisconsin homicide arrest warrants.
