Kynect open for enrollment, COVID positivity rate hovers around five percent

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear says Kentucky continues to trend in the right direction where it comes to COVID-19 and he’s excited for the future of the state once we’re able to put the pandemic behind us.

He reported 568 new COVID cases Monday, along with 26 new deaths, many of which were Kentuckians in their twenties, thirties and forties. The positivity rate is down to 5.03 percent and Governor Beshear says they’re keeping a close eye on that rate, since it was the first time in a while that the rate was higher than the day before.

The governor says it’s too soon so say if there will be an uptick in case numbers, but overall, they’re happy with the downward numbers.

He does encourage people to get vaccinated, and to get a booster shot if it’s available to you, to really keep your risk of getting badly sick or worse from COVID-19.

Enrollment is now open, as of Monday, for Kentuckians to sign up for Kynect, with the governor calling healthcare a basic human right and this will make that more available to those most in need.  Cabinet for Health and Family Services Eric Friedlander says this is a great step for giving citizens a choice in their healthcare that’s affordable and accessible.

Enrollments received through December 15, 2021, will qualify for coverage that begins January 1, 2022.
