One injured, one arrested in Murray shooting

The Murray Police Department has arrested a juvenile in relation to a shooting at McDonald’s in Murray early Sunday morning.

According to a news release, officers responded to McDonald’s around 1:30 a.m. for reports of shots fired and discovered a victim with a gunshot wound to his torso.  The victim was identified as 19-year-old Elijah Ball of Dyer, TN.

A juvenile suspect, who is not named, told officers the discharge of the firearm was accidental—they were taken into custody and charged with wanton endangerment, minor in possession of a firearm and tampering with physical evidence.  It is possible the wanton endangerment charge will be amended to first-degree assault.

Ball was transported to a local hospital where he is being treated for his injuries.
