Christian County Treasurer Walter Cummings has announced he will run as a Democrat for Christian County Clerk in 2022.
Cummings, a longtime certified public accountant, is a graduate of Hopkinsville High School, Hopkinsville Community College, and has a Bachelor’s degree from Austin Peay State University. He’s been county treasurer for 15 years.
In a news release Cummings says, “As Christian County Treasurer, I have provided oversight of a $42 million annual budget while providing proper financial reporting and payroll management. Your county clerk is responsible for managing over $16 million of your tax dollars each year.”
He continues, “There is much more to managing the county clerk’s office than recording documents. The funds that go through the clerk’s office are the public’s money that should be managed by an individual with the proper education, financial skills, and professional experience to use those funds in an efficient, responsible and accountable manner.”
He says he’s “committed to provide the people of Christian County with a county clerk that they can trust to provide great customer service as well as financial accountability.”
Cummings has been associated with the accounting firm of Duguid, Gentry & Associates, PSC, formerly Kem, Duguid & Associates, PSC for over 25 years.
